Since I'm finally getting to finish this post in 2015...the recap may not be stellar :) 3rd trimester was fun and hot! I really didn't have too hard of a time getting around or sleeping, thankfully! We were on the go and Nugget tagged along!

Doozie and Nanna visit

Today was a fun day! Derek's parents came up around lunch time to stay the night with us. They hadn't seen little man since the hospital; they said he had changed a good bit and gotten chubbier :)

Doozie and Nanna...Derek called his dad Doozie some when he was little :)

Colin has been such a happy baby the past 2 days! He has been on a good 3 hour eating schedule* finally*

He also has a lot of happy awake time which Derek and I have enjoyed a lot more than the first week's screaming fits ;) Another big plus-much less vomiting, wahoo! I know Derek is much happier with less breastmilk running down his shirt and arms, haha!

Derek and his 3 guys hanging out. The cats like to hunt the squirrels on the porch. Thank goodness the cats have grown to be ok with the baby. The first day was not so pretty and Gizmo freaked out when Colin cried. He scratched Derek up pretty good trying to see Colin. After about 2 days though, they stopped paying attention to him. Thank goodness!!

We started the day with bath time! This was Colin's first full bath since his cord fell off. He couldn't decide whether he liked or hated it. Haha. He did like his hair being washed!

Loving the hair washing ;) Look at that full belly, haha

Ross and Laura were also in town for the day so we took advantage of the babysitting and went downtown with them for lunch. They are so sweet at got me a Larimar spa gift card and Derek a bottle of 17 yr old scotch. They had gotten Colin 2 cute GT onesies earlier that we love too! It was the first time we both left Colin and it wasnt bad, no tears :)
We were both so happy to get out of the house and knew Colin would get plenty of love!

The guys got beer flights at Big River while we watched the TN vs AU game

When we got back we just hung around and watched football. I would say Colin got lots of love and attention today and was a sweet cuddler!

**Nursery**

When I was around 6 months pregnant, we decided to start working on the nursery. I liked neutral colors and we both liked the animal theme, but couldn't find the bedding we really wanted at stores. My sweet sweet sweet sister-in-law offered to make his bedding, and after a few hours at her house looking at fabrics online, we ordered fabric and had a plan. It took a weekend in Birmingham with Jess and Donna...I was moral support and ate snacks since I have no sewing ability...and it was done. I love the bedding so much and the curtain and pillow make it complete. They worked really hard on it all and I couldn't have pictured it more perfect! We love it! I've gotten a lot of compliments on their work ;)

We got his furniture at Babies R Us, we liked that it looked somewhat sophisticated and he can use it for years since it converts to a twin, then a full size bed.

Hard at work :)

We ordered tree limb decals for above the bed and Derek put those up.

My only creative part to contribute was his name wall. Pinterest of course :) We used the left over fabric from the bedding and stapled it around canvas squares. Then painted wood letters and stapled them on. Donna made strips for them to hang from with left over fabric, and we strung them on a curtain rod. Ta-Da!

We feel like it's a pretty peaceful place for our Nugget :)

This momma saw the sun!!

After 11 days of being locked up inside..I got to go to Target today! It's the little things ;)

Derek kept offering to keep Colin this week and let me get out of the house, and I needed to get some groceries. So off to Target I went! It was also my first time driving in 2 weeks, so that was nice too! I had to time it well with feedings, but it felt so nice to get out to see adults and listen to music in the car :)

Colin was super cuddly today, which was great since we'll have company all weekend and I won't get to be selfish and hold him 24/7 :)

After Target, Derek hit up his P90x (yes, he's a beast dad) and I strapped Colin in the stroller for a neighborhood walk! He absolutely hates getting into the carseat, but then loves riding. Everytime he's been in it, we bring him in and he continues his nap like a champ.  I swear it's where he sleeps the best some days!

After some cleaning and laundry...and more snuggling:) we are calling it a day. Got a big weekend of fun with family and friends that we are excited about. It's nice having company and seeing other adults! Derek and I get stir crazy and have been having music parties and laughing at our little guy's expressions too much, we need human interaction! haha

His pooping face..haha

Pregnancy part 2

I would have to say, the second trimester of pregnancy was by far the best, as most people say. I had a ton of energy and swear that I started nesting at like 16 weeks. I wanted everything clean and stayed on top of cooking and working out on top of working full time without problem. It was incredible the amount of energy Derek and I both had. I think men nest too ;)

Derek ordered a fetal monitor for us to use at home to hear his heartbeat and I have to say, that is the one thing that I do miss about pregnancy so far. We used it frequently and it was fun to hear him swimming and kicking around in there!

It was also when we found out that we were having a little boy! Luckily, since Derek works in the ER, he was able to do ultrasounds on me pretty frequently. Around 16 weeks, he was doing one and we were pretty sure we were having a boy. We didn't want to get too excited though, so we waited until our 20 week fetal scan appointment to be sure. We were over the moon that it was a boy! We know we want 2 kids and were really hoping to have at least one boy (After all, Derek is the last Patterson;)). Girls also intimidate us for now, so we were pumped! Of course we were most happy that the fetal scan went well and we had a healthy baby boy growing in me! Of course he was cross-legged and sucking his hands as usual ;)

It's a boy!

The weekend after our scan, we went home to Huntsville to tell our family! We had a gift for our parents with a boy item, and we also did a cupcake reveal with them. Their reactions were great! We skyped with siblings to tell them the news too!

Definitely getting bigger and starting to feel our nugget move really good :) Favorite time to kick- first thing in the AM when I get up and right before bed.

Once we knew the gender, a few weeks later we began to clean out the upstairs guest bedroom and start on the nursery! That's when it all got real, having our own baby to raise...ahh!

Spreading the good news!!!

Trying to back track here..after the pregnancy part 1 post :)

Once we found out we were pregnant, we knew we wanted to wait a little while before sharing the news...we were still getting used to it ourselves; and being in the medical field, we wanted to make sure that everything progressed ok.

One of our favorite pics of our Nugget :) Every ultrasound he is sucking on one hand and holding the other by his face. Still does that daily now too!

We knew we were going to go to Huntsville for Easter weekend, so thought that we would take advantage of that and tell them then!

We thought it would be fun to do an Easter basket for each side. We put candy and goodies in little eggs and then put one big egg in the middle with the first ultrasound in it. I would say that they were pretty shocked. When my parents opened the egg, my mom seemed pretty surprised and I think she thought we were kidding, haha. Dad smiled and chuckled, as expected ;). She just kept asking if we were serious. The video of it was too funny!

(Basket we got from Derek's parents, we were lazy and didn't take a pic of theirs we gave them)

Then we did Derek's parents, Seth, and Jess at their house. His parents went straight for the big egg, everyone looked very surprised. Derek's mom and sis were sweet and cried and everyone was very happy for us. I'm so glad we got their reactions on video :) Both sides have pestered (sweetly;)) us for 5 years to have them grandkids, so it was fun to be able to share the news!

We skyped my sister and brother and they were pumped too! Cait and Josh were excited that Eli would be a big cousin!

**Picture from today, 10days old!! We did a lot of lounging this morning while Derek had conference :) That little face keeps getting plumper!**
