Asheville!

It's been a rough week getting back to reality ;) We had a great anniversary trip in NC last weekend! We haven't left the kids that long, ever, I believe. They had a great time with grandparents and are slowly getting back to their normal routine (i.e. timeouts and less sugar!) :) We missed them like crazy, of course, but it was lovely to have no set plans and just wander around together. Eating meals in peace and having uninterrupted conversations, haha. They are a bit on edge this week at drop off or with Rebecca that they are getting left for a trip again. Love these mommy/daddy boys! Here's a look at our last week.

Family day in Huntsville before we left!

My baby Batman :)

First night stop was Gatlinburg! We stayed on the river and walked about.

We had dinner, did a whiskey tasting, and found this mountain coaster place. Derek did the coaster and the zipline! I didn't want to leave our kids without parents, so I sat out, haha.

The next morning we went exploring and hiking for a bit before getting on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Thought this 2 mile hike would be a breeze....ha. So many stairs, the first solid hour was like being on a stairmaster. Great views at the top!

Some of the stairs...our mouse friend at the top enjoyed us sharing our chex mix.

The Chimney tops. Still a good bit of damage from the fire years ago.

One last view before we hiked back down (and encouraged many tired walkers we passed on our way).

The parkway did not disappoint! The weather was great and we stopped at many look out spots.

We stayed at a cool Airbnb. It was an old church converted into a house with a loft. The loft was cozy and it was one mile from town. We ate a ton and went to 7 breweries in 2 days. We had dessert at French Broad Chocolates, yum!

The vibe downtown was cool and the breweries were so neat!

We had some wonderful dinners- The Admiral was probably our favorite. The line formed quick at Bouchon to get in at 5!

Hole Donut shop was amazing too. We had great seats in front to watch them fry and glaze them :)

Sunday we spent exploring the Biltmore! It was a rainy day so thankfully most of our day was inside.

Hard to believe this was someone's home. It was so huge!

We did an wine tour that went behind the scenes at the fermentation process, bottling, labeling, etc.

We learned a whole lot about the process and tasted some delicious wines at the end!

We had some more wine/cheese tasting afterwards and went back to the Inn to walk around before dinner.

We ate at the Inn's restaurant that night, so yummy. They had some interesting/expensive things on their menu and we got to try some new stuff. Dessert is always a highlight :)

Derek sure does spoil me!! We had a great time away celebrating 10 years of being married. It really has gone by so fast and I know the next 10 will be even better :)
