Baby TWO!

(This post is 4 days late...just a tad busy over here)

*Baby Finale will be joining our family June 2015*

We were a bit surprised #2 happened this fast but so glad too. I started getting suspicious on our beach trip in September. I was having to pee every hour all day and was so tired. I took a test but it was negative. Derek didn't believe it, he claims he has pregnancy instinct. He was right last time though. Another week later I took another one and was so shocked. Derek was in the bathroom too and didn't know I was taking it. It turned + instantly and I just blurted out 'it's positive?' haha.

We went to Dr. Bank's office that next week and had it confirmed. A lot of my UAB friends use him and we love him already! We're going to try to have this baby's gender be a surprise. That's tough for type A people like us, but it would be the best surprise! There are so many pros for having another boy or a girl, so either way we're happy :)

We are very excited to be able to have a second baby in the house. I'm 10 weeks along now and am slowly feeling a little better. Sickness hit me a few weeks earlier this time. I also have never sat on the couch this much ever...so tired!! I feel the same as I did last time...wanting SALT. Every 2 hours I am dying for something salty or I get super nauseous. I usually just keep some goldfish or crackers around. I'm craving the same foods as I did with Colin- pizza, bread, Chinese, pasta, mac n cheese, soft pretzels, soup, and salads. I could live off of those things alone ;)

I wanted kids about 2 years apart and we also wanted to get the baby phase over with pronto. Love babies, but we're ready to be on the go again and travel. 'Grand Finale' will be completing our family and we're excited about having 2! They will be almost 20 months apart. Colin is definitely Mr. Independent and I'm hoping that will help us when Finale comes! We are working on being gentle already, haha.

We skyped with the Shoemakes to tell them and they were surprised :)

We didn't wait long to tell family this time. Colin's birthday party we had everyone here, so it made sense to share the news then.  Colin wore his Big Bro shirt after his nap and surprised everyone. It was fun :) What's 1 more grandkid, right?!

Us time :)

Yesterday was Derek's boards test. Of course he has to wait 90 days to get his results :/ We went out to celebrate no more studying at Pappadeaux! It's new in town and was delicious!! Derek's relieved to have that over with!

Celebration cookie :)

Today was a fun and busy day! Not many pictures...as usual these days. Colin and I took lunch up to Jessica at school. Colin was in awe of all the kids in the lunchroom. He enjoyed it though! It was fun to go back to those cafeteria days and think of getting to go eat with Colin at school in a few years!

After lunch I dropped off Colin with Ellie for his nap at the house and met up with Cassity and Kate at the Summit for some shopping. Cass has been in Thailand for 2 years and got back this week. She was only in town for the day, but it was so good to catch up!

Once I got home it was dinner time then once Derek got home from work I ran up to the airport to pick up Caitlin's crew! I can't believe they are actually here now! Noah's fam and dad all met up to welcome them! We got them settled at the house and Colin was so intrigued by his new guests :) Tomorrow we all go to pick out our Christmas tree!!

*Pictures*

Picture catch up from lately :)

This kid loves seeing himself in the camera!

He owns us. He'll hold his cup at school and for the babysitters, ha, not for us.

Fun times with Lettie and Graham!

Poor Gizmo...he loved getting attention though :)

Love the fall colors driving through our neighborhood!

Ready for school on a cold day last week! Love little boy jackets!

Every single night this happens. Instantly when I put him on my shoulder after his bottle :) We need to drop that bottle, but I may wait one more week ;)

Tomorrow's the big day! Derek's test is a long one, but he'll be done with studying! I'm so excited for him and we get to celebrate with a date night afterwards!!

Sting Em!!

We got to spend our weekend in Atlanta to cheer on the Jackets! It was our last game this year to go to and it's been a great season! Only 2 losses this year and we've been there for 4 wins! We headed there Friday morning and got in town in time to walk around and go to the bookstore for new Tech gear. We met up with Terry and Donna and got to have a good dinner at a local bar/restaurant before the GT basketball game. It was super cold, but a fun day and night!

Tech played Georgia and it was a close game! I get more nervous that I like to admit at games. Even though I didn't know anyone on the team! I have to play on my phone when it gets close...better than hiding in the bathroom I guess (right Mom?!?!). Tech ended up winning and I'm hoping we'll make it back for another game this season. They had some good players!

Saturday we woke up and went to the Silver Skillet like last trip for a yummy diner breakfast. It was in the 30s so we took our time getting to the stadium. We've been to a few Clemson games and this year they were ranked 19 and GT ranked 22. We layered up good this time and actually weren't cold thanks to the sun and having no wind this time! It wasn't the prettiest game, but Tech won!!

The guys brought back the Starter Jackets!

Jamie stayed with Colin and sent this pic :)

We go back Saturday afternoon in enough time to catch more football and hang out! Dad and Noah's fam came over and stayed the night. There were some good games on! Big Mason is crawling now and on the move! It's cute watching him chase Colin around!

Dr. Derek had to perform a little surgery on dad today...Noah was his nurse. Let's just say nursing may not be in his future, but he didn't gag!!

Tonight we had Seth and Jess over for dinner! Colin got to show off new tricks and was very happy to have a big audience ;) We love having them over! 1 more day of studying for Derek and then he has his boards test Tuesday! If he passes, he just has 1 more test next year. Then he gets a 10 year break :) Caitlin and kids come Wednesday!!!

Road trip fun!

We're having tons of fun the past few days! After a fun weekend with lots of friends and family, Colin and I went to Chattanooga to visit friends. Barely took any pics we were so busy. This was our first car trip not during a nap. Colin watched a movie and didn't make a peep, it was too cute. We stayed with Keshia and played with Alli a lot. She is always so cute with Colin, she calls him 'my baby'. We got to go visit Homeless and went to dinner with my old boss and her mom. It was so nice to catch up! On our way back we went to dinner with Shanna and Owen! It was a fast 2 days but definitely needed :)

Derek's been studying for his boards test that is next week so he stayed here. It was nice all hanging out today some and we had a fun night eating dinner with Marjorie's family!

Silly boy trying to climb in his jumper on his own, he thinks he's so silly ;)

Obsessed with trying to open the toilet, trouble!

Swinging at the park when Nana came to visit Sunday!

Conquered stairs with one attempt. He's not too bad at going down either, but still tries to go hands first.

The medical world

With all of this sickness going on, I feel thrown back into my days at work...rattling my brain with why after a 2+ week cold, my child had a 104.6 fever the other night with a large amount of disgusting puss coming out of his cute eyeballs. Gross. Doctor daddy got us all medicine after our sicknesses propelled into nastier illnesses :) today we're all about 100%! I'm not so sure I miss my old job...although Derek and I have been sicker than ever since I quit :/

This week I've also played nurse to our neighbor's 9 month old. He had surgery Monday and can't ride in the car or be carried a certain way. I've stayed with him while Marjorie has had to run around with Lettie (her 2 year old). Stitches, dressing changes, and sponge baths have filled my week and I couldn't have been happier to help his nervous parents. Once a nurse, always a nurse :)

I feel blessed to have a medical background and know what to do in most circumstances and happy that Derek knows what to do in any emergency especially involving large amounts of blood (yuck).

I came across this article this week and I love it. It's a good reminder to my girl friends that are going through residency or just finished. The next 5 days I'll be spending time with 3 of these fabulous ladies and their doc hubbys. Let's be honest, the pressure only intensifies after residency. Derek has to be mentally on his toes for 12 hours at a time and comes home only to have to study for board tests year after year. What other job is anything like that!? My girlfriends are just awesome to their doc husbands and so supportive to them and me! Docs don't get a lot of credit anymore so thank one/hug one the next time you see yours!!

So thankful for sweet new friends down the road! They had Colin and I over for dinner last night too and we had a shopping day today. Now to get ready for our double date tonight with Graeme and Morgan (my preggo twin!)

Weekends are the best!

Saturday we went to the GT vs Virginia game! Derek worked that day, so Noah came as my date :)It was 45 degrees for most of the day, but we had some great tailgate food and got to see tech win! It was Noah's first GT game so we followed the band and did the whole experience. GT played good and thankfully we got to leave a little early since they were up 35-10! Go Jackets!

Cold selfie magic. Hot Chocolate!!

Sunday Derek was back home and we just hung out at the house all day. We all have colds for 2+ weeks now and we're so sick of it! We did get PF Changs to go which made us all feel a little better :) Colin didn't feel like playing much and was content with just lounging on the couch watching NFL.

Yep, I'm a Lego pro!

Sadly, I lost my wallet Friday night in the Papa John's parking lot. First time I've ever lost anything important like that....so annoying. A wonderful handy man did bring my wallet to the house today but it only had my drivers license in it and a check. He found it on the middle of the road. So glad to have my license though! Everything else is easy to cancel and replace.

On a positive note... Josh got an interview at UAB, Cait and the kids are moving here in 16 days, Christmas Village is this week, and Colin took a 4 hour nap today ;)
