With all of this sickness going on, I feel thrown back into my days at work...rattling my brain with why after a 2+ week cold, my child had a 104.6 fever the other night with a large amount of disgusting puss coming out of his cute eyeballs. Gross. Doctor daddy got us all medicine after our sicknesses propelled into nastier illnesses :) today we're all about 100%! I'm not so sure I miss my old job...although Derek and I have been sicker than ever since I quit :/
This week I've also played nurse to our neighbor's 9 month old. He had surgery Monday and can't ride in the car or be carried a certain way. I've stayed with him while Marjorie has had to run around with Lettie (her 2 year old). Stitches, dressing changes, and sponge baths have filled my week and I couldn't have been happier to help his nervous parents. Once a nurse, always a nurse :)
I came across this article this week and I love it. It's a good reminder to my girl friends that are going through residency or just finished. The next 5 days I'll be spending time with 3 of these fabulous ladies and their doc hubbys. Let's be honest, the pressure only intensifies after residency. Derek has to be mentally on his toes for 12 hours at a time and comes home only to have to study for board tests year after year. What other job is anything like that!? My girlfriends are just awesome to their doc husbands and so supportive to them and me! Docs don't get a lot of credit anymore so thank one/hug one the next time you see yours!!
So thankful for sweet new friends down the road! They had Colin and I over for dinner last night too and we had a shopping day today. Now to get ready for our double date tonight with Graeme and Morgan (my preggo twin!)
